Position Closed-Vocational Specialist, Lompoc

Job Summary
Transitions Mental Health Association has an opening for a Vocational Specialist for the Lompoc ACT Program, a Mental Health Services Act (MHSA)-funded, intensive Assertive Community Treatment program designed to engage with and provide services to transitional age youth (ages 16-25), adults, and older adults with serious and persistent mental illness so they can succeed in the community.  Lompoc ACT provides the full range of services including engagement, assessment, individualized planning, personal service coordination, integrated co-occurring drug and alcohol services, medication support, counseling support, social skills development, supported housing, integrated vocational services, supported education and access on a 24/7, 365 day basis.   Lompoc ACT promotes healing and recovery through a “whatever it takes” approach to service delivery.


In addition to providing the full range of services listed above, the Vocational Specialist is also responsible for providing on and off-site job training and vocational support to clients who are seeking or have competitive employment or a volunteer position. The Vocational Specialist is the primary support staff who helps the clients adjust to their employment and will inform team members of the client’s job-related needs.

Minimum Requirements
Master’s Degree in a related field preferred.  Spanish bi-lingual/bi-cultural preferred.  Awareness/ understanding of the vocational needs of psychiatrically disabled population; and/or experience in field of job coaching/job development/supported employment.  Must have experience working with persons with severe and persistent mental illness.  Strong interpersonal skills and oral/written communication skills; well defined organization and time management skills.  Conditions of employment include: must be at least 18 years of age; possess a valid CA Driver’s License, minimum of 2 years driving experience, reliable transportation, proof of auto insurance, and DMV driving record that meets TMHA’s current vehicle insurance requirements.  May be required to utilize personal vehicle and auto insurance.  At the time of hire, other conditions of employment are to comply with a T.B. skin test or chest x-ray indicating a negative tuberculosis result, and receipt of a criminal record clearance through fingerprinting.  Must be able to successfully complete First Aid and CPR training.

Compensation
Full time – 40 hours per week; Entry level $20.32 per hour, wage negotiable based on education and/or experience. Position is eligible for benefits package.
