Position Closed-Spanish Bi-Lingual Outreach and Recruitment Worker, Temporary

Job Summary
Recruitment. Temporary position, April 1 – December 31, 2014. Will work to increase community outreach and education efforts in the Latino community, including suicide prevention training in Spanish, recruit and develop a pool of bi-lingual volunteers to answer the Hotline calls, provide staff capacity in the Spanish language, increase cultural awareness  and enhance marketing efforts to the Latino community. The overall goals are to increase community awareness of crisis services and increase help-seeking behavior (as evidenced by increased call volume) by the Latino and/or Spanish speaking community.
This position will also be available to answer calls to the Hotline from the public during designated periods.  The Hotline staff offers support and encouragement to callers, refers them to mental health and related resources in the community and assesses for crises.  In the event that a caller is in a crisis, the staff will provide follow-up linkage to appropriate crisis intervention personnel.  This position promotes recovery and wellness, encouraging callers in their self-care.


The staff is also responsible for assisting the Program Coordinator in the operations of the call center, which will include taking calls from Spanish speakers, supervising volunteers for specified periods and completing documentation required by contracting agencies. The staff will uphold and promote the philosophy of TMHA in all duties performed.

Compensation

Minimum Requirements
Must be available to work designated hours. Spanish bi-lingual, bi-cultural. Have clear oral/written communication skills; able to deal effectively with a variety of people and personality types regardless of ethnic, racial, religious background or socio-economic level. Must be familiar with basic computer, telephone and cell phone functions. Must be reliable, ethical, and work well with minimum supervision. Must have good judgment, decision making, and problem solving skills. Reliable transportation to and from work and outreach venues. Conditions of employment include: must be at least 18 years of age.  At the time of hire, other conditions of employment are to comply with a T.B. skin test or chest x-ray indicating a negative tuberculosis result, and receipt of a criminal record clearance through fingerprinting.  Must be able to successfully complete First Aid and CPR training.
