Position Closed-Personal Services Specialist - Behavioral Health Treatment Court

Job Summary
The Full Service Partnership (FSP) Behavioral Health Treatment Court (BHTC) provides an intensive intervention treatment team for adult offenders who suffer from severe mental illness and co-occurring substance abuse disorders and are on probation. BHTC clients receive comprehensive mental health services (including assessment, individual, family and group therapy, crisis intervention and medication management), linkages to community services, co-occurring services, vocational training, and supportive employment services, all of which are tailored to their individual needs. This approach is an evidence-based practice designed to assist clients to avoid criminal recidivism, reduce harm from substance abuse, and recover functioning while managing mental illness. The TMHA Personal Services Specialist works as a team member with the Behavioral Health Department’s Community Treatment Providers, Probation Department, and the Judge of the local court. The TMHA Personal Services Specialist will be responsible for crisis care, case management service delivery, individual rehabilitation activities, day to day skills building, transportation to shopping and appointments and all other aspects required to reduce recidivism and help the clients maintain stability after leaving jail on probation. In addition, the TMHA Personal Services Specialist is expected to participate in the ongoing development and evolution of the BHTC with team members.

Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in a related Human Services field and at least 6 months mental health experience OR at least two years mental health experience. Valid CA Driver’s License, reliable vehicle, proof of auto insurance, and DMV driving record that meets Transitions – Mental Health Association’s current vehicle insurance requirements. Ability to handle intense situations, display good judgment and decision making skills, and remain calm and clearheaded under pressure. Must have a strong commitment to the right and ability of each person with a severe and persistent mental illness to live in a safe living environment; develop a meaningful role in the community; and have access to competent and continuous supports and services. Must have a strong commitment in clients’ rights to self-govern and create their own choices. At the time of hire, as a condition of employment, must comply with a T.B. skin test or chest x-ray indicating a negative tuberculosis result and a health screen indicating fit for duty. Must receive a criminal record clearance as a condition of employment. Strong interpersonal skills and oral/written communication skills; well defined organizational and time management skills; able to deal effectively with a variety of people and personality types regardless of ethnic, racial, religious background or socio-economic level. Must use reasonable precautions in the performance of one’s duties and adhere to all applicable safety rules and practices while acting in such a manner as to assure at all times, maximum safety to one’s self, fellow employees, clients, and other persons contacted through TMHA business. Must be 18 years of age as required by TMHA’s insurance carrier. Must have reliable automobile and utilize own vehicle at work with a company mileage reimbursement when a company vehicle is not available.

Compensation
Full-time - 40 hours per week. $15.36 to $20.88 per hour, DOE. Benefit eligible.
