JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of Transitions – Mental Health Association’s Growing Grounds Downtown (GGD) store coordinator, the Americorps member will recruit, train, and supervise volunteers; create volunteer training programs and materials. In addition assist in the development, implementation and marketing of GGD and TMHA promotional and fundraising events. The Americorps member in this position is placed with the Cal Poly Community Center’s Central Coast Volunteer Corps. Members will work full time for a 10 month commitment. As compensation for their time, members will receive a living allowance throughout their service term and a stipend upon completion. All stipends and benefits are provided through the Cal Poly Community Center’s Central Coast Volunteer Corps.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Working knowledge of standard office software packages, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, electronic mail and calendaring systems. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relations and to interact effectively with diverse populations. May required some weekend event participation. Good judgment, decision making, and problem solving skills. Strong interpersonal skills and oral/written communication skills; able to deal effectively with a variety of people and personality types regardless of ethnic, racial, religious background or socio-economic level. Must use reasonable precautions in the performance of one’s duties and adhere to all applicable safety rules and practices while acting in such a manner as to assure at all times, maximum safety to one’s self, fellow employees, clients, and other persons contacted through TMHA business. Conditions of employment include: must be at least 18 years of age; possess a valid CA Driver’s License, minimum of 2 years driving experience, reliable transportation, proof of auto insurance, and DMV driving record that meets TMHA’s current vehicle insurance requirements. May be required to utilize personal vehicle and auto insurance. At the time of hire, other conditions of employment are to comply with a T.B. skin test or chest x-ray indicating a negative tuberculosis result, a health screen indicating fitness for duty and receipt of a criminal record clearance through fingerprinting. Must be able to successfully complete First Aid and CPR training.
