Job Summary
Under the direction of the Program Manager, the Vocational Specialist will carry out the employment services of the Case Service Contract between Transitions-Mental Health Association’s Supported Employment Program, the State Department of Rehabilitation and Santa Barbara County Adult Mental Health Services. The Vocational Specialist will assist 10 adults with mental illness in obtaining and maintaining employment that is consistent with their vocational goals and recovery.
The Vocational Specialist will be responsible for developing consumer-driven service plans, provide employment preparation, job development, retention and follow-along services as well as conducting weekly Job Readiness Classes focusing on employability skills. The Vocational Specialist will uphold and promote the program philosophy in all duties performed.
Minimum Requirements
High School Diploma and at least 4 years experience in job developing, placement, or vocational coaching OR Bachelor’s Degree and 1 year of experience in job developing, placement, or vocational coaching. Awareness/ understanding of the needs of psychiatrically disabled population; Strong interpersonal skills and oral/written communication skills. Bilingual – Bicultural preferred but not required. Conditions of employment include: must be at least 18 years of age; possess a valid CA Driver’s License, reliable transportation, proof of auto insurance, and DMV driving record that meets TMHA’s current vehicle insurance requirements. May be required to utilize personal vehicle and auto insurance. At the time of hire, other conditions of employment are to comply with a T.B. skin test or chest x-ray indicating a negative tuberculosis result and receipt of a criminal record clearance through fingerprinting. Must be able to successfully complete First Aid and CPR training.
Compensation
Full-Time, benefit eligible position. $13.86 - $18.07/hr DOE
