Position Filled - Vocational Specialist, San Luis Obispo

Job Summary

The Vocational Specialist will carry out the services of the Supported Employment Program by assisting adults with mental illness in obtaining and maintaining employment that is consistent with their vocational goals and recovery. The Vocational Specialist will be responsible for assessing consumers’ vocational functioning, assisting with job search activities and provide job coaching and situational assessments as needed. This position may also be responsible for conducting weekly Job Readiness Classes focusing on employability skills. The Vocational Specialist will uphold and promote the program philosophy in all duties performed.

Minimum Requirements

High School Diploma and at least 4 years experience in job developing, placement, or vocational coaching OR Bachelor’s Degree and 1 year of experience in job developing, placement, or vocational coaching. Awareness/ understanding of the needs of psychiatrically disabled population. Valid Driver’s License, reliable vehicle, proof of auto insurance, and DMV driving record that meets TMHA’s current vehicle insurance requirements. Must be at least 18 years of age. Strong interpersonal skills and oral/written communication skills. At the time of hire, as a condition of employment, must comply with a T.B. skin test or chest x-ray indicating a negative tuberculosis result. Must be fingerprinted and receive a criminal record clearance satisfactory to TMHA’s insurance carrier, as a condition of employment. Strong interpersonal skills and oral/written communication skills; well defined organizational and time management skills, and collaborative work style; able to deal effectively with a variety of people and personality types regardless of ethnic, racial, religious background or socio-economic level.

Compensation

Part Time, 20 hours per week. $13.86 - $18.07/hr DOE
