Position Filled - Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist - Lompoc
Job Summary
Transitions Mental Health Association has an opening for an Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist for the Vida Nueva Program, a large start-up program. The Vida Nueva Program is a Mental Health Services Act (MHSA)-funded, intensive Assertive Community Treatment program designed to engage with and provide services to transitional age youth (ages 16-25), adults, and older adults with serious and persistent mental illness so they can succeed in the community. Vida Nueva will provide the full range of services including engagement, assessment, individualized planning, personal service coordination, integrated co-occurring drug and alcohol services, medication support, counseling support, social skills development, supported housing, integrated vocational services, supported education and access on a 24/7, 365 day basis. Vida Nueva promotes healing and recovery through a “whatever it takes” approach to service delivery. In addition to providing the full range of services listed above, the Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist is also responsible for providing on and off-site job training and vocational support to clients who are seeking or have been placed in competitive employment or volunteer position. The Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist is the primary support staff who helps the clients adjust to their employment and will inform team members of the client’s job-related needs and wishes.
Minimum Requirements
Master’s Degree in a related field. Master’s Degree in Vocational Rehabilitation preferred. Awareness/ understanding of the needs of psychiatrically disabled population; and/or experience in field of job coaching/job development/supported employment. Must have experience working with persons with severe and persistent mental illness. Valid Driver’s License, reliable vehicle, proof of auto insurance, and DMV driving record that meets TMHA’s current vehicle insurance requirements and use of own vehicle during the course of business. Must be able to successfully complete First Aid and CPR training. Must be at least 18 years of age. Strong interpersonal skills and oral/written communication skills. Ability to handle intense situations, display good judgment and decision making skills, and remain calm and clearheaded under pressure and must possess a high level of organizational and time management skills.
Compensation
Full time – 40 hours per week $18.48 - $28.87 per hour Position is benefit eligible
