Position Filled - Outreach Coordinator

Job Summary

The Outreach Coordinator functions as a liaison with mental health clients, mental health advocates, Family Services advocates, PEI (Prevention and Early Education) Community Based Therapeutic Services, county mental health staff, local Alliance for the Mentally Ill (AMI) groups, and other service providers. This position provides outreach throughout the community, providing education, information, and referral for adult consumers with psychiatric disabilities, and works collaboratively with agencies within the mental health system. In addition, the Outreach Coordinator will work as a link between clients, service providers, and the community to encourage including the client in their own recovery plan. In coordination with the Program Manager, the Outreach Coordinator will provide a broad range of general marketing, organizing, and promoting of various workshops and presentations, including Stamp Out Stigma and In Our Own Voice to individuals, agencies, and organizations throughout the community. The position will be based regionally as determined by the needs of the community and the location of related PEI services, with an emphasis of service provision for local Veterans, GLBTQ, homeless, and other underserved populations. Any individual at risk for depression, other mental illnesses, and suicide, who may currently be increasing unhealthy behaviors, is considered appropriate for outreach services. In addition, the Outreach Coordinator will provide mental health education and training to targeted service providers. The Outreach Coordinator will uphold the agency mission in all duties performed, promoting social rehabilitation, recovery, and wellness.

Minimum Requirements

Completion of a high school diploma or equivalent preferred. Valid Driver’s License, proof of auto insurance, and DMV driving record that meets Transitions – Mental Health Association’s current vehicle insurance requirements. Dependable transportation and ability to travel within the county and state when needed. Strong interpersonal skills and oral/written communication skills; able to deal effectively with a variety of people and personality types. Knowledge of mental illness treatment and medications, as well as related systems such as County Mental Health, Social Security, Vocational Rehabilitation etc. a plus. Must be responsible, and reliable, and possess problem solving and conflict resolution skills. Spanish Bilingual a plus. Knowledge of substance abuse issues as they relate to people with psychiatric disabilities a plus. Must be an individual with experience as a consumer of mental health services.

Compensation

Part Time, 20 hours per week. $12.13 to $16.63 per hour, depending on experience.
